3 incumbents, 1 new face slated for Derry Area School Board
One newcomer and three incumbents are slated to serve four-year terms on Derry Area School Board, according to unofficial Westmoreland County election results.
Incumbents Josh Campbell, Nancy Findish and Steve Frye will return to the board alongside newcomer Chad McIntire.
Campbell, who received enough write-in votes to capture both Democratic and Republican nominations, received about 21% of votes, or 2,367.
Findish and Frye earned enough votes to appear on both Democratic and Republican ballots. Findish received 2,325 votes, or 20.7%, and Frye received 2,286 votes, or 20.4%.
McIntire, who secured a spot on the Republican ballot through write-in votes, earned about 20% of votes, or 2,249, to beat out Democratic nominee and first-time candidate Mark Galimberti by 490 votes.
Republican Clint McChesney was elected to finish out the two years remaining on former board member Kevin Liberoni’s term.
Liberoni resigned from his 18th year on the board in June. The board appointed in July Alysia Longwell, a college instructor and Derry Area parent, to temporarily fill Liberoni’s position.
Longwell did not run to finish out the two years left on Liberoni’s term, leaving McChesney to run unopposed. McChesney received about 97% of votes, or 2,961.
