Indoor or outdoor, artsy or active — there are plenty of activities to pick from this weekend in Westmoreland County.
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes
On Saturday, Blackburn Center hosts its annual event Walk a Mile in Her Shoes. For the past 13 years, the walk has gathered community members to raise awareness about gender-based violence.
Many participants, including men, walk in high heels as a symbol of challenges women often face, including being on guard against the possibility of assault, experiencing sexual harassment and dealing with the aftermath of violence. High heels are loaned to male walkers during the event.
This year’s walk will be hosted in St. Clair Park, 132 N. Maple Ave., Greensburg. Registration begins at 9 a.m., and the walk begins at 10 a.m. For more, visit blackburncenter.org.
Seven Years’ War symposium
Fort Ligonier’s annual Seven Years’ War symposium will be returning at 9 a.m. Saturday.
The seven-hour symposium will feature four presentations focused on the French and Indian War and the Seven Years’ War at the Fort Ligonier Center for History Education, 200 S. Market St. Presenters include Maria Alessandra Bollettino, Meghan Budinger and Matt Gault, Andrew Bamford and Jim McIntyre.
Admission is $65 for Fort Ligonier members and $85 for nonmembers. Entry to the fort museum and lunch are included with admission. For more, visit fortligonier.org.
Indoor triathlon
Greensburg YMCA will be hosting an indoor triathlon for ages 16 and up. The event will include a 400-yard swim, a 2-mile run/walk and a 9-mile stationary bike ride. On Saturday, participants can compete for prizes in their respective age.

Chico Outdoor Expo
Chico Outdoors, a nonprofit organization founded in memory of Andrew “Chico” Crise, who passed away from an undiagnosed heart condition, presents the sixth annual Chico Outdoor Expo. The expo will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Westmoreland Fairgrounds, 123 Blue Ribbon Lane, Mt. Pleasant Township.
Each day will include speakers and demonstrations on various topics and raffles, a Chinese auction, door prizes, children’s games, a children’s fishing pond and live music.
Vendors will include archery and firearm dealers, fishing supplies, hunting supplies, taxidermists, outdoor vendors, camping vendors, equipment vendors and craft and artisan vendors. Food and beverages will be available for purchase on site.
Admission for children 12 and younger is free and is $5 for those 13 and older. All proceeds will be donated to area youth outdoor initiatives and veterans outdoor initiatives.
Since its founding in 2018, Chico Outdoors hosts an annual Outdoor Expo in April of each year and promotes outdoorsmanship by sponsoring and donating to youth organizations, youth outdoor events and veteran organizations associated with the outdoors.

Children’s show
Greensburg Civic Theatre will present “The Stinky Cheeseman and Other Fairly Stupid Tales” at 7 p.m. Friday and at 1 and 4 p.m. Saturday at the Greensburg Garden and Civic Center, 951 Old Salem Road. This narrated show spins comedic twists on classic fables such as “Chicken Little” and “The Gingerbread Man,” giving them a complete makeover. Upbeat music and witty narration accompany characters such as ineloquent giants and sassy barnyard animals.
