Pose with a pet

As They Come Animal Rescue will hold a Kids ’N Pets Photo Day and animal adoption event from 5:30-9 p.m. Friday at Green Beacon Gallery, 235 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg.

All family members and pets are welcome in photos. All animals must be on leashes when not posing.

For those without pets, the West Newton-based organization will bring cats, bunnies and a dog to be included in photos. Each animal will be adoptable.

Sitting fee is $20, or $10 for each session including the rescue pets. Prints will be $10 per sheet; digital photos are free.

Walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are recommended to guarantee a spot and cut down on wait time. To reserve, message the Green Beacon Facebook page, email greenbeacongallery@gmail.com or call or text 724-237-2737.

After-hours soiree

Pittsburgh fiber artist Tina Williams Brewer will be present to talk with guests about her work during Art After Hours, set for 6-8 p.m. Friday at The Westmoreland Museum of American Art, 221 N. Main St., Greensburg.

A retrospective of her career, “Cultivation: The Journey of the Work,” is showing through April 24 in the museum’s Robertshaw Gallery.

The after-hours event also will feature an art scavenger hunt, musical entertainment, light refreshments and libations. All attendees must show proof of vaccination or negative covid-19 test.

Fee with reservations is $12, or $10 for museum members, and includes one drink. Fee at the door is $15 for everyone. For reservations, call 888-718-4253 or visit thewestmoreland.org.

Let’s go-go to the theater

The Seton Hill University Theatre and Dance Program will present the musical, “Head Over Heels,” at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and March 3-5, and 2 p.m. Sunday and March 5 in the university’s Performing Arts Center, 100 Harrison Ave., Greensburg.

With book by Jeff Whitty and music and lyrics by The Go-Go’s, the romantic comedy is a spinoff of Sir Philip Sidney’s “The Duchess of Pembroke’s Arcadia.” It is produced by special arrangement with Broadway licensing.

Tickets are $15, $13 for non-Seton Hill students and $5 with Seton Hill student ID. Students with valid ID from any school can purchase $5 rush tickets five minutes before curtain time, subject to availability.

For tickets, call 724-552-2929 or visit setonhill.edu/tickets.

The seventh annual home show hosted by Westmoreland Professional Builders Association is set for 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday at Ferrante’s Lakeview, 6153 Route 30, Hempfield.

More than 40 booths will showcase businesses catering to home building and interior and exterior renovations, along with real estate agencies, banks, pest control, appliances and more. Some nonprofit agencies will be present, including the Habitat for Humanity ReStore.

Admission is $3, or free with coupon available at Lowe’s checkout counters or on WPBA social media pages. Attendees can show a photo of the coupon on their cellphones to enter free.

Lend a hand

An information session for potential volunteers will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bushy Run Battlefield, off Route 993 in Penn Township.

Volunteers can perform tasks such as assisting visitors, giving tours of the museum and battlefield, educating visitors through special programs and living history events, assisting with special events and helping maintain the monuments and museum area.

Current volunteers will be on hand to answer questions. Light refreshments will be served.
