June has almost drawn to a close. Here are some things to do this weekend before we head into July.
Charity horse show party
Making Strides Foundation uses “equine-assisted services” to provide assistance to children and young adults with disabilities. Located in Penn Township, the organization provides several therapy services as well as adaptive riding lessons. Friday night, it is holding its Charity Horse Show Kickoff Party, with tons of fun for a good cause.
Entry is a suggested $10 donation. From 6 to 8 p.m., attendees can enjoy live music by Pratt and Szallar, as well as food and dessert from High on the Hog food truck and Millie’s Ice Cream.

Saint Vincent Summer Theatre
Saint Vincent Summer Theatre continues its 2024 season through Sunday with “Unnecessary Farce.” Penned by Paul Slade Smith, this comedic play is full of hijinks and fun.
The show will be performed at Carey Performing Arts Center, 300 Fraser Purchase Road, Unity. Shows will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

SummerSounds
Ready for another installment of free summer music? SummerSounds is back with Nefresh Mountain Band.
Friday night at St. Clair Park, 132 N. Maple Ave., Greensburg, enjoy the summery sensation of this group’s acoustic bluegrass tunes. Nefresh Mountain Band refers to themselves as “progressive Americana,” and they blend together old-timey mountain music and contemporary sounds.

Fooz Fighters
Looking for a different kind of music? Friday night at The Lamp Theatre at 222 Main St., Irwin, tribute band The Fooz Fighters will rock the house. If you’re a fan of songs such as “Everlong,” “The Best of You,” “Monkey Wrench” and more from Foo Fighters’ decades-deep catalogue, this is the show for you. The award-winning tribute band does its best to bring the most authentic concert possible.

Ligonier Valley Bluegrass Festival
If Friday night whets the appetite for bluegrass, get even more at the Ligonier Valley Bluegrass Festival, running Friday through Sunday.
The event will take place at the Ligonier Township VFD No. 1, 44 Fire Hall Road. There is a packed schedule of bands, starting at 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. Saturday and noon Sunday. This is an outdoor rain-or-shine event, and food and beverage options will be available.
