This whole week may have seemed like a weekend to some of us.
Those lucky enough to wrap up school and work commitments early are probably ready for a little rest and relaxation after all of that partying and celebrating, right?
Nah, its Friday. Maybe you’ve got house guests to entertain or antsy kids underfoot, so pack ‘em up and go have some more fun.
Family fun for all
Historic Hanna’s Town, 809 Forbes Trail Road, Greensburg, will hold its Holiday Family Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 28.
A fun day of hands-on activities, crafts and music celebrating winter and the holiday season is planned.
The Westmoreland Historical Society’s newest exhibit, “Gems of the Collection: Everything and the Kitchen Sink,” will be on display in the Westmoreland History Education Center’s Kendra Gallery.
The Sensations, the youth performing group of Stage Right, will perform a holiday medley at noon. At 1 p.m., children can enjoy hearing “The Nutcracker Comes to America” by Chris Barton as it is read aloud.
Fee is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and children age 5 through grade 12.

Duo rocks The Lamp
The rock band Shiva Skydriver, including bassist Kelsey James and guitarist Ed Skero, will perform at 8 p.m. Dec. 28 at The Lamp Theatre, 222 Main St., Irwin.
As part of the show, the band will release the third single from its third album. Shiva Skydriver also plans to perform music from its self-titled debut and second album, “Let Go Of All You Know.”
Audience members will receive a download card containing high resolution audio of the new singles, including one exclusive bonus track not made available to the public until the album’s official full release in 2020.

Wrapping up the season
Several holiday attractions will “put a wrap” on their displays this weekend.
Nemacolin Woodlands Resort will hold its final Friday Light-Up Night at 5 p.m. Dec. 27.
The Fayette County resort offers a light show, live entertainment, food and libations and luminous installations.
In addition to more than 2 million lights, a train ride takes visitors through a tunnel of lights,.
The resort plans its season’s final donation presentation this Friday to Animal Friends of Pittsburgh.

And Overly’s Country Christmas will conclude its 2019 light display and walk-through village on Dec. 30.
The village, located at 116 Blue Ribbon Lane, Mt. Pleasant Township at the Westmoreland Fairgrounds, includes a nightly bonfire, model train display, horse-drawn wagon rides and refreshments, along with a drive-through and walk-through light display.
The light display began with the late Harry Overly in 1956, who decorated his Armbrust property and drew lines of awed motorists. Since 1993, the display has had a home at the Westmoreland Fairgrounds.
Cost is $20 per carload, $4 to park in fairground lot and walk in.

Doo wop heralds the new year
Pittsburgh band Pure Gold plays the music of the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s with a capella vocals and four-part harmonies.
The popular touring band will play a pre-New Year’s Eve celebration dinner and show at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 28 at The Lamplighter, 6566 Route 22, Delmont.

Songs to sip by
Irwin native and 2018 “American Idol” contestant Aubrey Burchell will perform at 6 p.m. Dec. 27 at Bella Terra Vineyards, 121 Sunny Lane, Hunker.
The Norwin High School graduate is a regular performer at regional venues and festivals. She describes her music on her Facebook site as “all genres.”
