Need something fun to do with Mom? Here are a few events happening this weekend.

Westmoreland County Senior Games

Running through May 17, the Westmoreland County Senior Games will take place at Mammoth Park and other locations throughout Westmoreland.

Anyone over the age of 50 is allowed to participate in the games, which are meant to encourage and demonstrate the fun of fitness for older people.

The registration fee for the Senior Games is $10. A wide range of sports and activities are included, from bowling and archery to golf and rowing.

DIY Maker Day at the library

All ages are invited from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday to make cool stuff at Greensburg Hempfield Area Library.

The library will make an assortment of Maker Space equipment available to participants. Makers can work on building, crafts, electronics, design and much more, including “making stuff with recyclable materials.”

The event is free, and no registration is required to attend. The Greensburg Hempfield Area Library is located at 237 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Greensburg. Check out more at ghal.org.

Antiques sale

Another monthly tradition begins for the year on Sunday with the Westmoreland Historical Society Antiques and Collectibles Sale.

Taking place the second Sunday of each month, May through October, this event has been going on for decades and has been essential in funding the historical society.

It’s also a great opportunity to bargain hunt for a variety of antiques and collectible items. Items sold include vintage items, historical crafts, folk art and more.

The sale will be held 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Historic Hanna’s Town, 809 Forbes Trail Road, Greensburg. Entrance fee is $5 per car.

Mystery Index Fest

Green Beacon Gallery, at 235 W. Pittsburgh St. in Greensburg, will host an eclectic music festival on Saturday.

It started out as a ska festival but has expanded into something more. The music will start at 4 p.m., with doors at 3 p.m., and occur on two stages. Admission is $18 (or pay what you can) and the festival is all ages, with BYOB for those 21 and older (with valid ID).

There will be food trucks on site as well. Parking is free in the building’s lot and, in addition to the music, the gallery will be open, with art on display for attendees to enjoy.

Participants can register online and complete registration at the Town Hall at 120 E. Main St., Ligonier. Participants must be 21 years or older.
