May the Fourth be with you! Here are some things to do this weekend in Westmore­land County.

Ligonier Valley Free Museum Day

On Sunday, several museums in the Ligonier Valley will be opening their doors to visitors for free.

Participating museums include the Compass Inn Museum, Fort Ligonier, the Ligonier Valley Rail Road Museum, Lincoln Highway Experience and the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art.

The museums’ subjects range from art to history and beyond, and several have activities and tours planned specifically for Free Museum Day. The event will run throughout the day. For more information, check out golaurelhighlands.com.

Boat House Row: The Yacht Rock Experience

Fans of “yacht rock” enjoy musicians such as Hall and Oates, Steely Dan, Toto, Christopher Cross and other makers of smooth, mellow rock from the late ’70s and early ’80s. The Lamp Theatre will be soft rocked by Boat House Row, a yacht rock cover band, this Saturday night.

The show starts at 8 p.m., and tickets are $32. It will take place at the Lamp Theatre, 222 Main St., Irwin. To find out more and to purchase tickets, visit lamptheatre.org.

Greensburg Garden Center May Mart

April showers bring May flowers! Visit the Greensburg Garden Center this Friday and Saturday to stock the garden with plants and tools. The May Mart Plant Sale and Flea Market will be from noon to 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

The sale will feature a variety of annual, perennial and edible plants, including vegetables and herbs. In addition, there will be a flea market featuring donated garden items.

Shopping is hungry work, and there also will be Bardini’s hot dogs and some baked goods on site.

Admission and parking are free. The event will be held in the Garden House and Butterfly Garden in the lower parking lot behind the Civic Center, 951 Old Salem Road, Greensburg. To learn more, visit greensburggardencenter.net.

Benise ‘Fiesta!’ at the Palace Theatre

Spanish guitarist Benise will bring his Emmy Award-winning “Fiesta!” to the Palace Theatre in Greensburg this Friday night.

The show will showcase a variety of traditional international genres, as well as classic rock hits and traditional songs including “Ave Maria” and others, reinterpreted in a fiery performance of music and dance.

Tickets start at $32.50 and go up to $95.50. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Palace Theatre, 21 W. Otterman St., Greensburg. For information and tickets, check out thepalacetheatre.org.

Fort Ligonier French Garrison Weekend

Get ready to travel back to the mid-18th century at Fort Ligonier, located at 200 S. Market St., Ligonier. The fort, which was a British fortification during the French and Indian War, will be taken over by the French on Saturday and Sunday.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, interpreters will demonstrate what life was like for French soldiers and civilians during the time of the French and Indian War.

Regular admission will apply for Saturday, but admission will be free on Sunday as a part of Free Museum Day. To learn more, visit fortligonier.org.
