Crews from J.E. Lyons Construction continue work on updates Wednesday at the Amtrak train station in Latrobe. The project includes a new handicapped ramp and improvements to parking and passenger shelters.

Amtrak is renovating its Latrobe station to improve accessibility for all passengers, particularly those with physical limitations.

The project will add a new, Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant ramp with a canopy, providing access from the McKinley Avenue parking area to the train platform. The existing concrete steps will be replaced, and the platform will be resurfaced with new concrete, replacing the current brick pavers. Other improvements include new lighting, accessible walkways and a repaved parking lot.

J.E. Lyons Construction of Latrobe is the general contractor. Completion is anticipated by summer 2026.

The historic Pennsylvania Railroad station, a 1903 Victorian-style brick building on McKinley, has been preserved and now operates as DiSalvo’s Station Restaurant.
