After two additional covid-19 cases were reported — making a total of a dozen cases in 15 days — Penn-Trafford officials have extended the closure of Penn-Trafford High School through March 31, Superintendent Matt Harris said in a letter.
The district originally planned to close Friday, through the weekend, and reopen Monday.
The decision was made after consulting with the Department of Health and considering the district’s upcoming spring break, Harris wrote.
“Students will return to school April 7 following spring break,” he said. “Students will receive synchronous remote instruction next Monday (through) Wednesday during their schedule class time.”
The high school principal will send additional directions to parents and students regarding online instruction.
Extracurricular activities are canceled until 2:30 p.m. March 31.
Contact tracing determined that none of the current positive cases have been transmitted in the school, Harris said.
