Anyone traveling by rail this weekend is encouraged to check Amtrak’s schedule as officials make some of the first cancellations ahead of the expected winter storm.

The storm has caused cancellation of several Pittsburgh-area trains on Sunday.

The Pennsylvanian Service, from New York to Philadelphia to Harrisburg to Pittsburgh, has two cancelled trains — 42 and 43.

The Keystone service, from New York to Philadelphia to Harrisburg, has six trains cancelled — 662, 664, 672, 661, 667 and 671.

Riders can check their train status on Amtrak.com or through an associated app.

Those with reservations can modify them to a different day or time with any additional charges waived. Changes can be made by calling 800-USA-RAIL.

The first of two storms started Thursday evening and is expected to last through Friday morning, bringing between 1 and 2 inches of snow.

The second storm, set to begin Saturday morning and last through Sunday morning, is expected to bring rain, snow and sleet to the area before turning to all snow, the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh predicts.
