Annual Fire Prevention Day planned outside Westmoreland Mall

Fire trucks will be on display Tuesday night outside Westmoreland Mall for the area’s annual Fire Prevention Day.

Firefighters will be stationed at the Hempfield mall on Route 30 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with lessons about fire safety and live demonstrations.

Organizer’s at last year’s event estimated that more than 100 trucks attended and about 80 fire departments were represented. Ladder trucks, pumpers, command posts and a children’s fire house are expected at Tuesday’s event, as well as hot dogs and pop for attendees.

The event is presented by Hempfield’s 12 fire departments and firefighters in South Greensburg, Southwest Greensburg and Greensburg.
