Armstrong County woman accused of stealing Trafford family's dog
An Armstrong County woman is accused of stealing a Trafford family’s dog.
Molly Bureau, of Cadogan, is charged with two counts of theft in a criminal complaint filed by Trafford police.
Eva Hodgdon told police that Bureau never returned her 1-year-old black German shepherd — named Nani Nyx — after she was hired to watch the dog.
Hodgdon said Bureau picked up Nani around 8:30 p.m. on July 1. When Hodgdon went to retrieve her dog around 6 p.m. on July 4 at the Trafford apartment complex address that Bureau provided, she and the dog were nowhere to be found.
Hodgdon told police she had been communicating with Bureau throughout the day on July 4, but did not receive a response. Bureau was not at the pickup address, and none of the neighbors with whom Hodgdon spoke had seen Bureau or Nani.
That’s when Hodgdon contacted police. She said there are no leads on Nani’s location.
Hodgdon said she and her three children — two 5-year-old twins and an 8-year-old — have only had Nani for two months, but she has already become a member of the family.
“She chose us … She’s the best at helping me stay calm, so I really want her in this moment,” Hodgdon said. “She is my kids’ best friend. They love her so much.”
Bureau could not be reached for comment. Police declined comment.
“We just really want Nani home. We’re really just hoping there is some sort of miracle today or this weekend to reunite us all together,” Hodgdon said.
