Audio from the latest meeting of Westmoreland County’s coronavirus task force is available on the county’s website.

State legislators, county commissioners, members of the county departments of public safety, finance and human services and others attended the May 6 meeting. Speakers provided updates about responses to the pandemic ranging from the state level to community groups.

In-person visits are increasing at Excela Health facilities, said Dr. Carol Fox, chief medical officer.

“We have a very low number of covid positive patients in our facilities,” she told the group.

Officials discussed potential funding opportunities and programs being implemented as a result of the virus.

The county is preparing for an economic reopening at 12:01 a.m. Friday as the region moves into the yellow phase of the governor’s three-tiered plan. The county had 418 confirmed cases of the virus as of Monday, according to state health department figures. Nearly 6,000 people have tested negative.

The county coroner is reporting 32 people have died from the virus.
