Award-winning writers kick off Pitt-Greensburg series
Writers curious about publishing, performing and getting their work into print can learn more on Feb. 4 as the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg opens its Written/Spoken Series.
The program at 7 p.m. in the Hempfield Room at the 150 Finoli Drive campus includes several award-winning writers and the editors who have published their work.
Pittsburgh-based Low Ghost Press authors Taylor Grieshober and Bart Solarczyk, and special guest spoken-word artist Andrea Laurion, will read and talk about their paths to publishing and Pittsburgh’s literary scene.
Low Ghost Press editors Kristofer Collins and Scott Silsbe will discuss their roles in selecting and publishing work from area poets and writers.
The program is free and open to the public.
Low Ghost Press published Grieshober’s debut story collection, “Off Days,” in 2019. She was shortlisted for the Master’s Review Winter Short Story Award and her fiction has appeared in national and international journals.
Low Ghost also published Solarczyk’s most recent book of poems, “Tilted World,” in 2019. Solarczyk has published poetry in a variety of publications. His most recent chapbook, “Right Direction,” was published in 2016 by Lilliput Review as part of the Modest Proposal chapbook series.
Pittsburgh writer and performer Laurion has published essays and humor pieces in publications including Slate and The Washington Post. She has performed on improv stages in Pittsburgh and with the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York City.
Collins and Silsbe will address the press and their own work.
Low Ghost and other books will be available for sale and signing.
