Biondi Biscotti to bring food, fellowship to Penn Township in 2nd Italian Festival

Biondi Biscotti will bring Italian food and fun to Penn Township on Saturday.

The cafe, located off of Route 130, will celebrate its second year of business at its second annual Italian Festival, featuring food, desserts, music and children’s activities. The event will run from 3 to 7 p.m.

Louis Biondi, owner of the Italian cafe, began making and selling food and baked goods to the community out of his home in 2015. About two and a half years ago, he made the business official by opening a store attached to his wife’s gymnastics studio, Alison Biondi Gymnastics.

Last year’s celebration drew between 300 and 400 people, Biondi said. He aims for an equal turnout at this year’s event.

“It’s just fun,” Biondi said. “Watching everyone enjoy themselves, watching the kids have fun.”

Tents and a pavilion will be available in the event of rain.

Some of the foods that will be offered at the event include sausage sandwiches, meatballs, coffee, biscotti and various other Italian desserts — all homemade by Sylvia Cattello, who Biondi described as the cafe’s “five star cook.”

For adults, wine and cigars will be offered. For children, there will be face painting and a bounce house, free of charge.

Biondi hopes attendees enjoy the “old school” Italian cooking and time spent with other community members.

“Really, it’s just a bunch of people getting together,” Biondi said. “It’s just fellowship, really. If you go to Italy, that’s what Italy’s about.”
