Volunteers continued searching on foot and on all-terrain vehicles in the area around West Jeannette Monday evening in an sweeping effort to find a 21-year-old man reported earlier that afternoon.
The searchers, assisted by bloodhounds teams from Greensburg and Bovard, scoured an area off 11th Street and Mapleton Avenue, as well as dense woods across Brush Creek, for Tyler Winwood. He was reported missing sometime between 3 and 4 p.m. Monday, according to a Westmoreland County Department of Public Safety supervisor.
Jeannette police described Winwood as being 5-foot 7-inches tall, weighing about 120 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair.
Bovard Fire Chief Greg Saunders said the bloodhounds began searching from where Winwood had been at a residence along Sixth Street to 11th Street and across Brush Creek into the woods, where they lost the scent.
The county’s Department of Public Safety had set up a command post across from Buster Clarkson Field along South 11th St. The search continued after 9 p.m. Monday, Public Safety Director Buddy Mertz said.
Anyone seeing Winwood is asked to contact Westmoreland 911.
