Boil water advisory for Port Vue, McKeesport
A boil water advisory has been issued for Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County customers in Port Vue and McKeesport.
Water authority officials said a leak of a six-inch water line near Romine Avenue in Port Vue shortly after 9:30 a.m. caused pressure issues for more than 2,100 customers near the break.
Crews were expected to restore water to those customers late Tuesday but the boil water advisory was issued because of potential contamination risks associated with the outage and low pressure.
Authority business manager Brian Hohman said testing will be done over the next two days, after which the advisory may be lifted.
Water buffaloes for customers are located at the Port Vue borough building and Port Vue Fire Department on Romine Avenue, officials said.
