A 21-year-old Bolivar man was arrested for allegedly breaking into an ex-girlfriend’s residence in Seward early New Year’s Day, then assaulting her and threatening to burn her house.
Darion A. Martin was arraigned on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, possession of marijuana, terroristic threats, possession of prohibited weapons, intimidating a witness, harassment and criminal mischief filed by state police. Martin was ordered held in the Westmoreland County Prison after failing to post $50,000 bail pending a preliminary hearing Jan. 11 before Ligonier District Judge Denise Thiel.
Martin went to the woman’s home at 3 a.m., but left when he was asked to leave, police said.
He returned to the residence on Love Avenue about 4:45 a.m. and entered the home, demanding money, Trooper Zachary Ochap alleges. Police said Martin and the woman began arguing when he broke out the front window of the home with brass knuckles he was wearing.
Police allege Martin “threatened to hit (the woman) and then pushed her onto the couch.”
“Martin threatened to burn her house down if she did not pay him or if she called police,” Ochap wrote in court papers.
Ochap said Martin admitted the incident to troopers when they arrived at his home to question him.
