Phone solicitations Derry Township residents have received from callers claiming to represent the local volunteer fire department are bogus, according to Bradenville Fire Chief Mark Piantine.

“Some people have been getting phone calls soliciting for the fire department for a fund drive, and we do not solicit on the phone,” Piantine said Thursday .

Piantine said he’d received reports of two such bogus calls. He stressed that the fire department conducts its fund drives by mail solicitations only.

The solicitations are mailed twice annually, he said, noting this year’s were sent in March and August.
