Alli Saunders, 10, of Irwin, places cereal, popcorn and fruit on string while creating the decorations for the Christmas tree at the 2018 children’s colonial Christmas party at Bushy Run Battlefield in Penn Township. The children’s colonial Christmas party will be held Dec. 7.

Children will be able to experience a colonial style holiday celebration at the Children’s Christmas Party, which will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Bushy Run Battlefield, Route 993, Penn Township.

Attendees will make natural Christmas decorations and decorate the Bushy Run Christmas tree that will be planted on the battlefield grounds. Children will spend time playing a variety of colonial games and will be able to take home an ornament they will decorate.

The event costs $5 per child and will conclude with the arrival of a “special guest” who loves seeing children at this time of year. Participation is limited to 30 children.

Reservations are required. Contact Bushy Run’s secretary, Marlene Sawayda, at 724-744-4193 or secretary@bushyrunbattlefield.com.

For more information on the Christmas party, visit Bushy Run’s Facebook page or website, www.bushyrunbattlefield.com.

The Bushy Run Battlefield Heritage Society Inc. is sponsoring the event and all proceeds go towards the preservation and operation of the battlefield.
