Car wash planned for Route 30 near Greengate Centre
A vacant building along Route 30 in Hempfield is going to be torn down after township supervisors on Monday approved plans to build an automatic car wash there.
The building across Route 30 from Greengate Centre once held law offices. It will be replaced by Clean Express Auto Wash.
The facility will be similar to a Clean Express location about 6 miles west in North Huntingdon, but smaller, said Hempfield planning manager Matthew Pernelli. The site will have multiple vacuums in addition to the washing area.
The plan was approved contingent upon the developer getting a stormwater management plan and various permits.
The development will include the addition of sidewalks along the highway, Pernelli said. The site is between Key Bank and Lincoln Place Drive.
Clean Express Auto Wash, operating under Express Wash Concepts, has locations in Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania.
