The Carpenter’s Apprentice volunteers were at working in Greensburg Friday, adding a safety rail to a home on East Pittsburgh Street.

The organization is a joint mission of First Presbyterian Church of Irwin, Norwin Church of the Nazarene and Community Methodist Church of Harrison City.

Created in 2008, the organization was idle for several year but reactivated in 2023. The work in Greensburg this week was part of a series of projects done at no cost to the homeowners.

Those who are in need of assistance can visit the carpentersapprentice.org.

The Carpenter’s Apprentice will evaluate sites suggested as in need of improvement to determine if the volunteer skills match the project. The evaluation includes a financial needs assessment of the homeowner.

Volunteers can register on the website.
