A cat died and two homes were damaged in a porch fire Wednesday afternoon in North Huntingdon.

No one was home when the fire started around 4 p.m., and no people were injured, according to Circleville Fire Chief Craig Couchenour.

Two dogs were taken alive from the home at Woodall Drive and Carlson Drive and are “in good shape,” along with the homeowners, he said.

The fire extended from the back porch of one home to the side of a neighbor’s home, damaging its siding.

The back porch of the first home was severely burned.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Couchenour said.

Fire crews from Circleville, Hahntown, Irwin, Larimer, Shafton, Strawpump, North Irwin, and Westmoreland City responded.
