A store selling products infused with cannabidiol (CBD) has opened in Hempfield.

A store selling oils, creams, edibles, capsules and skin care products that contain cannabidoil, an essential component of medical marijuana, is open along Route 30 near Jeannette.

The outlet, Your CBD Store Greensburg, opened in the Lincoln Hills Plaza in Hempfield, said Angelo Stelluto of Wilkins Township, owner of the local franchise. Stelluto operates under the corporate name of Natural Health and Wellness of Jeannette LLC.

The cannabidoil comes from industrial hemp, which is similar to the marijuana plant but has far lower levels of THC, the psychoactive chemical in marijuana. CBD products do not produce a “high” like marijuana. A medical prescription is not needed to buy the products, Stelluto said.

Stelluto, who was an industrial distributor, said he plans on opening other stores in Westmoreland and Somerset counties, primarily east of Greensburg.

CBD is derived from industrial hemp that the U.S. Department of Agriculture regulates. CBD has become so popular that products containing the ingredients are sold in supermarkets and video stores.

“We are not a vape shop. We are a learning environment where customers can try products and leave knowing what is in our product,” Stelluto said in a statement.

The company has 64 stores in the the tri-state area, Stelluto said.
