A Murrysville policeman escaped injury Sunday after his patrol SUV was rear-ended along Pleasant Valley Road, state police said.

The crash involving Patrolman Corey Fearon occurred about 8:15 a.m. when Fearon’s northbound patrol car stopped to check a disabled southbound vehicle, state police at Kiski reported. Fearon’s emergency lights were on when the crash occurred near the Lyons Run Road intersection, police said.

Snow and ice covered the road that morning.

The 73-year-old driver of the other northbound SUV received a warning for driving at an unsafe speed, according to the incident report. Neither that driver nor a passenger in his vehicle were injured.
