Police said a Greensburg man they arrested on charges of stealing a pickup truck at a Sheetz convenience store didn’t wait long before allegedly committing another theft.

As Adam E. Lilliock, 39, was being processed at the police station for the truck incident on Feb. 9, Greensburg police said he swiped a cellphone from another inmate.

Earlier that night, police said Lilliock was caught on video around 8 p.m. driving off in a white 2005 Chevrolet truck at the convenience store on Harvey Avenue. Police said they recovered the truck parked four blocks away on Arch Avenue and arrested Lilliock after finding him walking nearby.

At the downtown police station, Lilliock placed his belongings in a property bag before being transported to the county jail, Patrolman Jason Fidazzo reported in court documents. While putting items in the bag, Lilliock grabbed a phone out of another inmate’s jacket that was hanging near the holding cell area and claimed it as his own.

The owner of the phone had been temporarily put in a holding cell after being cited with public drunkenness, Fidazzo said. He reported his phone was missing when he was released at 2:45 a.m. Feb. 10. He provided Fidazzo with the telephone number and a description of the phone.

Fidazzo went to the county jail and dialed the number. The phone “rang in Lilliock’s property bag,” Fidazzo reported.

Later, Fidazzo said a security video at the police station showed a handcuffed Lilliock taking the phone from the jacket pocket.

Lilliock is charged with vehicle theft, driving on suspension, theft and receiving stolen property.
