A 34-year-old Youngwood man was arrested Saturday, accused of assaulting and choking his girlfriend during an argument.

Brandon Sticca was arraigned on charges of harassment, simple assault, strangulation and unlawful restraint after the incident in his apartment on South Fourth Street.

Troopers said Sticca and the 20-year-old victim got into a verbal argument when Sticca allegedly punched the woman, threw her to the floor by her hair and began choking her.

The woman was able to free herself, run out of the apartment and call state police.

Troopers said they noticed multiple bruises around the victim’s neck and head and a cut on the inside of her right cheek.

Sticca was arraigned before District Judge Charles Christner and ordered held in the county prison after failing to post $5,000 bond.
