A 72-year-old driver who was killed Sunday in a wreck near New Stanton died of multiple injuries, according to the Westmoreland County Coroner’s office.

The coroner’s office said Ronald C. Ondrejko of Hempfield was pronounced dead at the scene of the 7:54 a.m. Sunday crash along South Center Avenue.

Ondrejko died of multiple blunt force injuries caused in the single-vehicle crash. The crash was ruled an accident, according to coroner’s reports.

State police said Ondrejko was driving north on South Center Avenue, just south of its intersection with Sandworks Road in Hempfield when he lost control of his 1930 Ford Roadster for an unknown reason. Troopers reported he drove off the right side of the road into a grassy area, travelling 150 feet before the car ran into a ditch. After striking the ditch, Ondrejko was ejected from the vehicle, which caused his fatal injuries, authorities said.

The coroner’s office reported that funeral arrangements are being handled by Saloom-Rega Funeral Services in Mt. Pleasant.
