Westmoreland County hosts free fishing derby at Mammoth Park

The Westmoreland County Parks and Recreation, Westmoreland County Sportsmen’s League and Dick’s Sporting Goods officials will host a free fishing derby for people of all ages on Sunday in Mt. Pleasant Township.

It will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mammoth Park, 171 County Park Road.

Registration is free and will be at Pavilion 12 at 7:15 a.m. Adults age 16 and older must display a valid 2023 state fishing license. First- and second-place trophies will be awarded for the longest trout, carp and other fish of legal size in both adult and youth categories.

Trophies for the the best “Catch of the Day” will also be awarded in both age divisions.

There will be a door prize drawing for all registered youth following the derby. All contestants must be registered by noon to be eligible for prizes given away by Dick’s officials.
