Two people were taken to hospitals Friday after a crash on Route 30 in Unity shut down part of the highway, according to state police.

Troopers said Robert W. Reed, 60, of Latrobe, turned from the middle lane of Route 30 east onto Wimmerton Boulevard around 6 a.m. when the Ford Explorer he was driving collided with a Honda Civic heading westbound.

The car’s driver, Kameron P. Rose, 20, of Bolivar sustained serious injuries, police said.

Both he and Reed were taken to hospitals for treatment. Reed had minor injuries, police said.

The road’s westbound lanes and one eastbound lane were closed as troopers investigated the crash about 2 miles from Arnold Palmer Regional Airport. The road reopened around 9 a.m.
