The cause of a fire that left a Greensburg home damaged is under investigation, according to Lou Battistella, assistant chief with the Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department.
Crews responded to the fire at a duplex in the 300 block of George Street around 8:50 p.m. Tuesday, a Westmoreland 911 dispatcher said.
“It was just in a lot of hidden spaces and stuff,” Battistella said of the fire. “They managed to get it out and it was really only on one side of the duplex. The other side of the duplex was pretty good.”
Battistella noted that officials do not think the property is a total loss.
The number of people living in the home, or information on any reported injuries, was not immediately available. According to the dispatcher, all occupants had made it out of the house.
Crews cleared the scene around 11:45 p.m. Fire marshals were on scene Wednesday morning investigating the incident, Battistella said.
In addition to members of the Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department, crews from the South Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department assisted on scene with fire suppression and overhaul, according to a post on their Facebook page.
Greensburg Fire Chief Thomas Bell did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Engine and Service 32 assisted the City of Greensburg with a house fire tonight. A total of 9 members responded to the scene. Crews assisted with fire suppression and overhaul.
