Firefighters quickly knocked down a bedroom fire and were able to contain damage to one room Monday night at a modular home in Loyalhanna Township.

Crews were dispatched before 10 p.m. to the dwelling along Moween Road in Loyalhanna Township.

“We had a pretty good knockdown,” Saltsburg Fire Chief John Dice said, with volunteers from several neighboring departments assisting. “We were able to stop (the fire) before it got into the crawl space,” he said.

The contents of the bedroom received heat and smoke damage, but there were no injuries, he said.

Dice said smoking may have sparked the fire.

A woman who was the sole occupant declined assistance from the Red Cross, he said.
