Delay in pipe replacement extends Penn Township road closure
A road in Penn Township that was to have reopened in late May is now expected to remain closed into early September since work has been held up on a PennDOT pipe replacement.
The closure, which began on April 18, affects a section of Boquet Road between Frye and Walton roads. The road is closed to traffic so that workers can replace a deteriorated metal cross pipe with a new concrete pipe.
“We are waiting for utility work to be completed,” said PennDOT District 12 spokeswoman Melissa Maczko. “Once this work is completed, we will resume work on our cross pipe and complete the project.”
The revised work schedule depends on weather conditions.
A posted detour includes sections of Claridge Export Road, Claridge Elliot Road, Route 993 and Business Route 66.
