Construction work begins at intersection of routes 380, 286 in Murrysville
Delayed construction work at the intersection of Route 286 and Saltsburg Road in Murrysville, near the Plum border, began Thursday, Plum officials said.
Canonsburg-based Olympus Energy funded temporary traffic improvements last year as part of its Hermes fracking well pad project, built nearby on the Murrysville-Plum border off Logan’s Ferry Road. The work will make those improvements permanent, Murrysville Chief Administrator Michael Nestico said.
Drivers headed north and east on Golden Mile Highway must now wait at the traffic light to turn left onto Saltsburg Road. The light also controls Route 380 traffic continuing straight onto Golden Mile Highway.
During construction, the far-right northbound lane of Golden Mile Highway will close for roughly a month, and northbound traffic will no longer be able to make a left-hand turn onto Saltsburg Road. They must continue north to Toohey Road and come back to the intersection on the southbound side, Plum officials said.
In addition, a barrier wall will be placed in the northbound lanes of Golden Mile Highway to ensure a safe work area for construction crews.
