Shields Farm is home to the annual Apple’n Arts Festival, seen here in 2023.

Delmont officials will hold a meeting to give a presentation and take public input on a long-term plan for the Shields Farm property.

A borough steering committee has been working with consultants EADS Group on a plan for the 145-acre former farmstead, part of the larger goal of developing a borough-wide comprehensive plan.

“It’s still a draft, but it’s coming along,” Councilman Jeff Cunningham said. “Our EADS consultant put together a very nice presentation that we’ll show at the meeting. We created some (mock-up) art for areas where we discussed dropping some pavilions, some additional access and a walking trail.”

Council President Andy Shissler said he’s also submitted some information to the consultants about possibly developing a disc golf course on the property.

“I thought we could utilize some of the unused parts of the farm,” Shissler said.

The June 25 meeting will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the borough building, 77 Greensburg St., where the steering committee will give its presentation and hear from residents.

Shields Farm is home to the annual Apple’n Arts Festival and Delmont Pilgrimage. The borough also rents the property for various events throughout the year.
