The Delmont Stormwater Authority will meet at 6:30 p.m. May 1 in the borough building at 77 Greensburg Street.

State-mandated improvements to the borough’s stormwater infrastructure are outside the borough’s annual budget, and the authority is in the process of initiating a stormwater utility to provide funding for those expenses based on fees assessed on properties throughout Delmont.

The fee will apply to all properties including tax-exempt organizations.

Delmont is party to two consent orders with the state Department of Environmental Protection, related to inflow and infiltration of stormwater into the sewage system, and sewage overflows that have resulted from it.

The meeting is open to the public. The authority will also meet June 26 at the same time and location.
