Delmont officials adopted a $1.25 million 2020 budget that holds the line on property taxes.

The budget calls for $1,250,374 in both revenues and expenditures.

Council members also adopted a resolution that will be forwarded to state officials, noting that the borough will not increase property taxes. They will remain at 18 mills. Solicitor Dan Hewitt said new state law requires towns to adopt the resolution.

Grant applications

Borough officials also will apply for two state grants to help offset the cost of improvements mandated by both an existing and a yet-to-be-finalized consent order agreement with the state’s Department of Environmental Protection. Both grants are available through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.

They will pursue a $255,000 grant from the PA Small Water and Sewer fund, which requires a 15% match from the borough.

In addition, they will seek a $2.32 million grant from the H2O PA program, which provides large-scale grants for single- or multi-year water, sanitary and storm sewer projects. That grant requires a 50% match.
