A Derry Borough man has been indicted by a federal jury on nine counts related to sexual exploitation of minors, U.S. Justice Department officials announced Tuesday.

According to the indictment, Michael Wilson, 43, persuaded or coerced multiple minors to engage in sexually explicit conduct in order to create photos and video on seven occasions between 2019 and May 2021. It alleges that between September and October 2019, Wilson distributed digital images involving a minor, and that on May 15, 2021, he was knowingly in possession of videos and images involving minors in a sexual context.

Officials from the Derry Police Department, state police and Homeland Security took part in the investigation. The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 by the U.S. Justice Department.
