Westmoreland County Park Police are investigating after an abandoned mid-1990s Chevy truck was found submerged at the Bridgeport Dam in Mt. Pleasant Township Thursday afternoon.

The truck was found around 9 a.m. by two men magnet fishing, park police said. It was located in the reservoir of the dam — a multi-purpose flood control dam on Jacob’s Creek — near Double Bridge Road.

Crews from Mutual Aid Ambulance Service, Kecksburg Volunteer Fire Department, Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department and the Murrysville dive team spent hours at the scene trying to remove the vehicle from the water after determining no one was inside. The truck was eventually towed by Raygor Towing and Recovery of East Huntingdon.

Officials indicated the pickup had been in the water for a long time.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
