D&L Industrial Supply sold to Oklahoma company
An Irwin company that supplies cutting tools for the metalworking industry was sold to an Oklahoma firm, the companies said.
D&L Industrial Supply Inc., at 117 Main St., was purchased Monday by BlackHawk Industrial of Broken Arrow, Okla., which distributes carbide cutting tools, abrasives, saw blades and lubricants, said Brad Rosenthal, marketing director for BlackHawk. BlackHawk is a national distributor for cutting tools manufactured by Kennametal Inc. in Unity and its Widia division, Rosenthal said.
The acquisition of D&L adds 13 employees to BlackHawk’s workforce of more than 700 employees across the nation, Rosenthal said. D&L’s president, Douglas G. Benish, will become its sales manager, Rosenthal said.
Douglas and Linda Benish founded D&L Industrial Supply Inc. in 1995. They purchased Performance Machining Services at 117 Main St. from partners John Motcher and James Steffey for $60,000, according to documents filed with the Westmoreland County Recorder of Deeds. Linda Benish was listed as president of D&L Industrial Supply of Penn Township when it was founded in 1991, according to documents filed with the Pennsylvania Department of State.
Douglas Benish said in a statement released by BlackHawk that his company’s culture and customer service models align perfectly and there is “unlimited potential for the combined business.”
BlackHawk said its acquisition of D&L, which has a reputation as a highly technical, value-added distributor in the cutting tool market, extends its service capabilities into a large manufacturing market.
BlackHawk has a diversified market, serving customers in the energy and transportation sectors and firearms manufacturers. It also has produced personal protective equipment during the covid-19 pandemic, Rosenthal said.
