The painting, “A Place For Us,” an oil and acrylic on handmade canvas tapestry, is among the works on display at StopWatch Gallery & Studio on Main Street in Greensburg during a meet the artist reception 6-8 p.m. on Saturday.

An opening reception for a new exhibition from a Pittsburgh-based artist is set for Saturday evening at a Greensburg art gallery.

Attendees at StopWatch Gallery & Studio will get to meet the artist behind “Rell Rushin: Reflections” from 6-8 p.m. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.

Rushin said her paintings are portraits of close friends and herself and represent each person in varying stages of their lives.

“This work is a visual dialogue about becoming the person your childhood self-dreamed of being, community, self-reliance and the fluidity of time,” she said. “In this body of work, I contemplate existence and imagine an escape from the realities of adulthood, self-sabotage, displacement, misogyny, misogynoir and anti-Blackness around the world.”

StopWatch Gallery & Studio is at 323 S. Main St. The gallery is open Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday noon-5 p.m. and by appointment.
