Drugs, $10K seized from Jeannette home; 2 arrested
Police seized nearly $10,000 and drugs from a Jeannette home Tuesday and arrested a man and 17-year-old boy inside, according to court papers.
Larry Frederick, 31, who is wanted by authorities in Philadelphia, is being held in the Westmoreland County Prison without bond.
City police and agents from the state attorney general’s office served a search warrant at the North Third Street home at 3 p.m. Frederick, who lives at a different Jeannette address, said the home belonged to another man who had not been charged, according to court papers and online records.
Investigators said they seized 2.8 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 70 grams of cocaine, less than a gram of crack cocaine, marijuana and stamp bags that may have contained fentanyl, along with other items typically used in the package and sale of drugs. Authorities confiscated $972 from Frederick, $650 from the juvenile and $8,116 found inside a pair of men’s shoes, according to court papers.
Frederick is charged with conspiracy, drug offenses, corruption of minors and child endangerment. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records. A Feb. 11 preliminary hearing is set.
A detainer for him was issued in Philadelphia County in November in a 2013 drug case for which Frederick remains under state supervision, according to court and prison records. Police Chief Shannon Binda said drug and conspiracy charges were filed through juvenile court against the teenager who was in the house. He was being held at the Regional Youth Services Center in Hempfield.
It was at least the third and fourth joint drug-related arrest in recent weeks by Jeannette police and agents from the state attorney general’s office. One man was arrested Jan. 20 after a foot chase through the city and a second man was nabbed two days later. In both cases, police said they used confidential informants to make drug buys from the suspects.
