The Rostraver Airport along Route 51 could become a home for a Dunkin’ doughnut shop, the airport owner said Tuesday.

Dunkin’ is interested in acquiring a piece of the airport property along Route 51 in Rostraver for one of its doughnut shops, said Gabe Monzo, executive director of the Westmoreland County Airport Authority. The authority’s property committee would be entering into negotiations with Dunkin on the site.

Dunkin’ had previously wanted to lease a small piece of airport property for its store, but the authority earlier this year did not want to enter into a lease arrangement, Monzo said Tuesday.

Dunkin’ has a franchise that operates along Route 51, near the entrance to the 197-acre Rostraver Airport property. The owner of that Dunkin’ store in Rostraver could not be reached for comment Tuesday.

Gary Beck, an airport authority member, said Dunkin is looking for more space for its store.

A spokesperson for Dunkin’ could not be reached for comment Tuesday. Dunkin’ is one of six eateries — including Arby’s and Buffalo Wild Wings — operated by Atlanta-based Inspire Brands LLC.

In another property matter related to the Rostraver Airport, the authority had agreed to lease the former Eagles Landing II restaurant site to an Allegheny County man who wants to operate his catering business from the airport.

The authority will offer the site to Blaine Hill Barbecue & Catering Business of Elizabeth for a one-year lease at $2,000, with the possibility of negotiating a longer lease, said Daniel Hewitt, airport authority solicitor.

Gary Musisko of Elizabeth said last month he wanted the site for his catering business since he had sold his Droopy’s Cross Creek Bar and Grill in Elizabeth Township, where he was able to prepare the meals for catering.

Musisko was given a discount on the first year’s lease in return for making improvements to the site.

A formal lease has yet to be drafted.

Eagles Landing II had closed in the summer of 2022. The restaurant occupied about 3,400 square feet of an 8,400-square-foot airport hangar.
