Earth Day cleanups planned in Hempfield
Hempfield will be among the outdoor sites where spring cleaning will occur on Saturday, which is celebrated as Earth Day.
The township is planning a community-wide cleanup during which residents can dispose of their household recyclable items, tires, and scrap metal at the municipal building at 1132 Woodward Drive, or to Hempfield Park, 220 Forbes Trail Road, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Hazardous household waste and electronic waste will not be collected at the drop-off locations.
The event will occur regardless of the weather.
In addition to the drop-off locations, there will be roadside cleanups by local volunteers throughout the township, as well as events at Hempfield Park.
Township residents can schedule a free collection of hazardous household waste or electronic waste such as televisions and computers with County Hauling. Scheduling a pick-up can be found at countyhauling.com under the HHW and E-Waste Recycling tabs.
