Employee at Murrysville Giant Eagle tests positive for covid-19
An employee at the Giant Eagle in Murrysville has tested positive for covid-19, store officials reported Thursday night.
The regional chain has sought to keep customers informed by keeping a list of stores where employees have tested positive for the virus, and when that employee was last in the store.
The Murrysville employee was last in the Old William Penn Highway location on March 27, according to the website, which lists the store as now sanitized and open for business. Company officials received confirmation of the test results on Wednesday.
Giant Eagle has taken several steps to respond to the coronavirus, such as reducing hours, introducing curbside pickup, installing Plexiglas dividers at checkout and customer service areas, and pledging $10 million in bonus pay to its employees.
“Like other essential businesses, Giant Eagle has received confirmation of the first positive covid-19 tests among our team members, and it is likely in the coming weeks we’ll learn of additional confirmed cases related to team members and guests,” the company said.
