Excela Health is having a coronavirus vaccine clinic July 31 for anyone 12 and older at a Greensburg church.

The Pfizer vaccine will be available by appointment from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Greater Parkview Church, located at 103 Westminster Ave. Second doses for those attending the clinic will be on Aug. 21 at the same location.

Online registration opened Friday at vaccinate.excelahealth.org. Anyone without access to a computer can call 724-689-1690 between 8 a.m. and noon, Monday-Friday, to make an appointment.

Anyone who is under 18 years old will need to have a consent form filled out by a parent or guardian and can be accompanied by an adult for the shot. Health system officials said everyone in attendance should bring identification. Anyone getting immunized should bring insurance information, if they have it. However, insurance is not needed to get the vaccine.

Just over 156,000 people in Westmoreland County are fully protected by the vaccine, according to state department of health figures. Another 13,000 are partially covered. About 46% of all county residents have gotten at least one dose.

Between 74% and 80% of county residents 65 and older, depending on age range, have gotten one or both shots, according to department statistics. Those figures drop significantly for younger adults.

About 40% of people between 20 and 24 in the county and about half of people 40 to 44 have gotten at least one shot, department statistics show. For young people between 15 and 19 in the county, about 34% had gotten at least one dose. Statistics indicate 13% of children 10 to 14 are at least partially covered, though 12 is the youngest a person can be to qualify for the Pfizer vaccine only.
