A half dozen babies born at Excela Westmoreland Hospital this week were dressed in pint-size cardigans for the trip home with their families.
It was part of the hospital’s celebration of Wednesday’s World Kindness Day, which encouraged all to don sweaters reminiscent of the iconic cardigans worn by beloved children’s television host Fred Rogers and to carry forth his message of spreading kindness.
“To me and to all the nurses, it’s really important,” said Taylor Stiffler of Greensburg, a nurse and lactation consultant.
“Mister Rogers is really instrumental in teaching these little ones all sorts of things as they get older,” she said. “The message of being kind, and kindness to everybody, I think, to all nurses is important. That’s a major part of our profession.”
