A Latrobe family is mourning the loss of Justin Bibel, 29, who was killed in a crash on Route 30 near the Westmoreland Mall.

Bibel died Thursday in UPMC Presbyterian hospital, according to his wife, Monica Lea Bibel.

“He was a good guy, he was funny, he was laid back, had a really big heart and would do anything to protect his family,” she said.

He is survived by five children.

“He loved his kids; he was a good dad and a great husband,” his wife said.

According to Westmoreland County 911, the single-vehicle crash on Route 30 westbound near the mall happened just before 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Bibel was taken to the hospital, where he died a day later, his wife said.

The cause of the crash has not been determined.

Justin Bibel worked as a butcher at the Giant Eagle in Eastgate Plaza in Hempfield.

He worked hard to provide for his family, his wife said.

The family has started a fundraiser on Facebook to help cover the costs incurred by the crash.

“We have funeral expenses; we have medical bills,” Monica Lea Bibel said.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jeremy Bibel, 13, Racheal Zack-Bibel, 12, Amanda Bibel, 11, Rylea Bibel, 6, and Todd Bibel, 3, parents, Saundra and Vance Bibel; and brother, Nicholas Bibel.
