A Fayette County man was paroled Friday after being resentenced to serve a shorter jail term for his role in the thefts of construction equipment and building materials during a month-long crime spree in 2016 throughout Westmoreland County.

David F. Wray, 48, of Fayette City, pleaded guilty in 2018 to racketeering, conspiracy, burglary and other offenses. Police said he was the ringleader of a group of four people who stole hundreds of items valued at more than $150,000 from 17 construction sites.

Wray originally was sentenced to serve two-to-four years in prison but, earlier this year, a state appeals court overturned that penalty and ordered he be resentenced.

In court on Friday, Westmoreland County Common Pleas Court Judge Christopher Feliciani ordered Wray serve one year, less a day, to two years less two days in jail and another five years on probation.

Wray was given credit for the 19 months he already served behind bars and was immediately paroled. The judge ordered that Wray keep a curfew of 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. unless he is working during those hours. Wray also is required to live in Westmoreland County.
