A 76-year-old woman died Thursday night after a fire at a senior apartment complex in West Newton, according to Westmoreland County Coroner Tim Carson.

Joyce Marinos was killed in the blaze. An autopsy will be done Friday, Carson said.

Filbern Manor was evacuated partially after the fire in an 11th-floor apartment, county emergency officials said.

Fire crews were called to North Water Street about 7:15 p.m.

Firefighters assisted residents in evacuating the building and set up a temporary shelter at Turkeytown Volunteer Fire Department in South Huntingdon, a member of the department said.
